MAY 13 ANNOUNCEMENT
The Rev. Charles Schnabel was admitted to the hospital on May 9 and on May 13 Canon Patricia Mitchell reported that physicians determined he was suffering from pneumonia and not COVID-19. He is home on antibiotics and oxygen.
MAY 10 ANNOUNCEMENT
The Rev. Charles Schnabel was admitted to the hospital yesterday evening. He is being treated for COVID-19 and is now resting and receiving oxygen.
MAY 5 ANNOUNCEMENT

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dr. Noel O. Lawson, husband of the Rev. Karen Davis-Lawson, rector of St. George’s Church, Astoria. Dr. Lawson died in the hospital yesterday evening due to complications of COVID-19. He was a Special Education and Music teacher who had a passion for working with youth and young adults; an active member of his church, Grace Baptist Chapel, working with the Children’s Church, Youth and Young Adult Ministry and singing in the choir. Donations may be made in his memory to the youth ministry at Grace Baptist Chapel, 3355 Boller Avenue, Bronx, NY 10475.
Please pray for Mother Karen and her family during this time of mourning, and for the repose of Noel’s soul.
Fr. Gerardo Romo-Garcia of Centro Francisco [Old Grace Church] in Riverhead reports that some parishioners, mostly farmworkers, have contracted Covid-19. He requests prayers and especially for Catalino who is headed to the hospital, and for Catalino's wife and their two teenage sons who are recovering.
Fr. Rick Simpson reports that his daughter, Dr. Rachel Simpson (see April 6 post), has lingering symptoms from Covid-19 but expects to be back to work soon. His uncle, Doug Wiseman, died this morning from Covid-19 pneumonia, in hospice in Arizona.
Fr. Fred Vergara reports that two members of Holy Trinity, Hicksville, contracted Covid19; Joe Samudulski survived and is out of the hospital. Former vestry member Sandra Kuzinski is still in the hospital.
The Rev. Karen Davis-Lawson, rector of St. George’s Church, Astoria, was hospitalized last Wednesday with breathing difficulties and required oxygen. This morning she is resting comfortably and expects to be released from the hospital this week.
Dr. Rachel Simpson (daughter of the Very Rev. Richard E. Simpson and his wife Janet) has tested positive for Covid-19 and presently is caring for herself at home.
