>> Transcript of Bishop's livestream homily

Saint Ann's, Sayville
Palm Sunday
Maundy Thursday
Easter Sunday

Saint Mark's, Westhampton Beach
We did live online services daily, also Stations and lighting of the new fire online, and erected three life sized crosses re-enacting Calvary on a mound on the church lawn visible from the streets surrounding.

We sent daily messages and sermons via constant contact.

Palm Sunday
We planted palm branches in the ground on Palm Sunday

Good Friday
We adorned the middle cross with purple and a crown of thorns

Easter day
We adorned the middle cross with white and laid flowers at the foot

People passed by, came to kneel and pray, took photographs,
Called out Happy Easter!

The Rev. Canon Lesley Hay
Interim Priest

Zion, Douglaston

Video aired during Good Friday Zoom service:

This is our first try at doing an online "choir"—recording ourselves in our separate homes, and editing those files together to sing in unison.

This chant comes from the Taizé community in France, with the verses adapted for Good Friday.

Lyrics here:

Know, friends, when we are afraid
Though trembling is the earth
Though all the mountains fall

Though all the waters may rage
The seas press all around
Our God has gone this way

Through deepest darkness and pain
Our Christ has lit the road:
We do not go alone

Video aired during Zoom Easter Sunday service.

“Way back on the Feast of the Transfiguration, the kids of Zion hid the "Alleluia" so we couldn't say it during Lent... Mother Lindsay had to go searching for it!”
